  • Revolution Ridge: An area dedicated to some of the most amazing animals found around the world including red pandas, an okapi, cassowaries, pygmy hippos, servals, and so much more.

Food, Shopping, etc.:

Check out the Meerkat Cafe in the main building of the GSC for snacks and quick meals. They have soft pretzels and Sparkling Ice waters, two of my faves, along with standard stuff like chicken fingers, pre-made salads and sandwiches, and more.

The gift shop at GSC is incredible, with lots of unique merch. It’s a very small space and is often filled with too many people, but it’s well worth navigating those challenges because there are a lot of really cool things that will help you find souvenirs of your favorite animals.

Keep in mind: The GSC is a true science center, with non-zoo parts as well, including a planetarium, a section on paleontology, and more. I can’t say what all more because we all know I’m just doing the zoo and aquarium sections.

Local Favorites:

Food

  • Melt Kitchen & Bar – Lots of great options, many with very good melted cheese
  • Crafted – Really great Mexican food in an amazing downtown area with lots of cool shops
  • Cheesecakes by Alex – Amazing cheesecakes, right by Crafted
  • Char Bar – Standard bar fare, frequented by the staff of the GSC. Great food and drinks, but avoid the pretzels.

Coffee

  • Awoo Coffee – Go for the adorable dog logo, stay for the great coffee and treats
  • Brewed & Bottled – Located right by the GSC, they have good standard drinks as well as some fun ones.
